AGM Keynote Speaker: Prof. Marjorie Cohn

This year’s AGM features keynote speaker Marjorie Cohn, Professor Emerita at Thomas Jefferson School of Law where she taught from 1991-2016. She is a former president of the National Lawyers Guild in the United States and a board member of LRWC. All are welcome to attend the AGM.

Prof. Cohn will discuss the work of the recent International Commission of Inquiry on Systemic Racist Police Violence Against People of African Descent in the United States. The Commission of Inquiry’s 27 April 2021 report has been submitted to the UN High Commissioner on Human Rights and the UN Human Rights Council. See the 27 April press conference. Prof. Cohn will explain the background and contents of the report, including applicable international human rights law. The findings and law discussed in the report are of interest to lawyers and human rights defenders around the world, including Canada.

Those who join LRWC or renew their 2021 membership may vote at the AGM.
