Thank you for response to Lawyers’ Rights Watch Canada’s (LRWC) letter dated August 25, 2003 concerning the murder of Ms. Griselda Tirado Evangelio.

We are pleased to learn you share our concerns and that you are committed to ensuring an effective and successful investigation. LRWC would like to receive further information about the investigation into the murder of Griselda Terado Evangelio and to be kept informed of progress.

The murder of Griselda Tirado Evangelio, a lawyer engaged in human rights advocacy, creates a bar to any significant enforcement of human rights. As long as murder of Griselda Tirado Evangelio is unresolved all human rights advocates in Mexico are in danger.

Please provide LRWC with the name and address of the special prosecutor appointed to conduct the investigation and of the individuals in charge of this investigation for the Ministry of the Interior office and the Attorney General.

We hope that you will continue to provide us with information on this case as it progresses and the names and addresses requested. Thank you very much for your time and efforts in responding to our letter.

We look forward to further correspondence from you.
