Invitation to an online Seminar – Day of the Endangered Lawyer (Azerbaijan)

This year, on 24 January 2021, commemorates the 10th anniversary of the Day of the Endangered Lawyer. This year’s country of focus is Azerbaijan.  In past years, the Day has focused on the following countries: China, Colombia, Egypt, Honduras, Iran, Pakistan, The Philippines, Spain/Basque Country, Turkey.

This seminar addresses some of the challenges faced by lawyers in Azerbaijan. In particular, this seminar will address: (i) the legal profession in Azerbaijan and access to justice, (ii) admission to the Bar, (iii) disciplinary proceedings, including disbarment, (iv) lawyers’ right to freedom of expression, and (v) cases of Azeri lawyers before the European Court of Human Rights.
