Lawyers in Turkey are being subjected to arbitrary arrest and detention and judicial harassment for merely defending their clients’ rights in politically sensitive cases.
“Arrest and Detention of Lawyers in Turkey – Right to Pre-Trial Release” is a report presented jointly by Lawyers Rights Watch Canada and the Observatory for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders.
Turkish lawyer Asya Ulker was arbitrarily arrested in November 2011.
