LRWC responds to rights violations against lawyers and other human rights defenders by writing letters requesting:
- cessation of the violation(s); and,
- implementation of appropriate remedies; and,
- adherence to national and international law.
Anecdotal evidence overwhelmingly indicates that letters are effective and provide a check on abuse of power. Letters also remind government officials that the identified
violation(s) are being monitored.
Please use LRWC Letters and the International
Law page to write your own letters. |
